Frequently Asked Questions

Can anyone invest in private companies?

No, investing in private companies through our platform is limited to accredited investors only.

An accredited investor is an individual who meets any of the following criteria:

  • An annual income of $200,000+ ($300,000+ with spouse) for the past two years;
  • A net worth exceeding $1 million excluding their primary residence; or
  • A professional license in good standing, such as the Series 7, Series 65, or Series 82.

These requirements exist because private company investments typically involve higher risk, less disclosure, and limited liquidity compared to public markets. Our focus on serving accredited investors allows us to offer exclusive pre-IPO opportunities while maintaining regulatory compliance.

What am I purchasing when I invest?

When you invest on the Hill platform, you are investing in a private single-asset fund. The single-asset fund either owns the stock directly or owns an interest in another private fund which owns the shares.

What is a single-asset fund?

A single-asset fund (SAF) is a private investment fund setup for the purpose of acquiring a specific asset. The offerings on our platform are structured as single-asset funds where one unit of ownership in the private fund provides the same economic exposure to one share of the underlying asset.

How does Hill gain access to pre-IPO investment opportunities?

We secure investment opportunities through strong relationships with venture capital firms, asset managers, and company founders.
