Trusted Contact Person
What is a trusted contact person?
A trusted contact person is someone you authorize Hill Securities LLC ("Hill Securities") to contact in limited circumstances about your relationship with us. Under FINRA Rule 4512, broker-dealers such as Hill Securities are required to ask customers for the name and contact information of a trusted contact person. Providing one is optional — you can use the Services without naming a trusted contact — but we encourage you to provide one.
Whom Hill Securities may contact, and why
Naming a trusted contact person authorizes Hill Securities to contact that person and disclose information about your relationship with us in order to: address possible financial exploitation; confirm the specifics of your current contact information or health status; or identify any legal guardian, executor, trustee, or holder of a power of attorney acting on your behalf. In certain circumstances involving suspected financial exploitation, FINRA Rule 2165 also permits Hill Securities to place a temporary hold on a disbursement and to notify your trusted contact person.
What a trusted contact person cannot do
A trusted contact person is not authorized to transact on your behalf, does not become a party to your relationship with Hill Securities, and has no authority to make investment decisions, direct disbursements, or access your Account. Naming a trusted contact person does not create a power of attorney.
Who should be a trusted contact person?
Your trusted contact person should be someone you trust and who is likely to know how to reach you — for example, a family member, close friend, attorney, or accountant. We suggest naming someone who is not already authorized to act on your Account. Your trusted contact person must be at least 18 years old.
How to add or update your trusted contact person
You can add, update, or remove a trusted contact person at any time by contacting us at support@hill.com or by phone at +1 (888) 971-5999. Please keep your trusted contact person's information current.
